A Q&A with Cedric Bartlett;
Tell me about yourself
I’m a devoted dad to two young boys under 3, so they keep me pretty active and on my toes! I graduated from university with a double degree in Mechanical Engineering and Business, majoring in Finance. My career started off as an engineer, but I soon found my passion in finance. I spent several years working with the Big 4 banks, gaining a lot of valuable experience. Eventually, all these experiences led me to become a business owner and finance broker. I love helping people navigate their financial journeys and achieve their dream of homeownership.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time, I love cooking and trying out dishes from all over the world. It’s a fun way to explore new flavours and cultures. I’ve been playing the guitar for most of my life, and it’s a great way to relax and get creative. I also stay active with mixed martial arts. It’s a fantastic way to stay in shape and keep my mind sharp!
What advice would you give to someone who's feeling overwhelmed by the mortgage process?
I totally get it – feeling overwhelmed during the mortgage process is completely normal. Just remember, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, and all your patience and hard work are leading you towards your goal. Don’t hesitate to reach out to your broker and share how you’re feeling. When you understand where you are in the process and what the next steps are, it can really help ease that overwhelming feeling. We’re here to support you every step of the way and make the journey as smooth as possible.
What do you find most challenging about being a mortgage broker, and how do you overcome it?
The most challenging part of being a mortgage broker is definitely keeping up with all the niche changes and policy updates in the market. It’s a lot to stay on top of, but it’s crucial for helping my clients. To tackle this, I embrace continuous learning and take every chance I get to meet, speak, and engage with lenders. Staying connected with the industry helps me understand what’s going on so I can provide the best advice and options for my clients.
Which NRL team do you support?
Obviously, the Parramatta Eels! When my family first moved to Australia in 1993, we called Parramatta home, so naturally, I became an Eels fan. Despite the ups and downs and those heartbreaking moments when the Eels have choked, I’ve stuck with them through thick and thin.
