Leaving snowy peaks for sun-drenched beaches, Lanie Marks packed her bags and travelled across the world to experience Australia. A career in hospitality management drew her to the world-famous Whitsundays and a visa sponsorship allowed her to stay.

But going full-circle, Lanie has found herself back in the financial game, a career she originally had after graduating from university in Canada. The opportunity came through Loan Market’s sister company, Ray White Real Estate.

“I have seen Airlie Beach grow and prosper over the 15 years I’ve been here, so when an opportunity arose to enter the real estate industry, I took up the challenge. Ray White had acquired a rent roll, so I began my career with them as a property manager.

They are a wonderful business to work for, so I began to look at opportunities to further my career within the brand. When I saw that Loan Market was a sister company, it was a logical next step given my prior experience in finance.”

She is a licensed mortgage broker and Franchisee for Loan Market, a family-owned business which negotiates with the big banks and specialist lenders to find the most competitive deals in finance for everyday people.

Lanie loves that the flexibility of her job allows her to meet clients at a time that fits into their lifestyle.

“Recently, a real estate agent told me her client would like to talk, but he had a flight to catch, so would call from the airport.

It turns out I was on the same flight, so we met in the airport lounge for a meeting!”
