Why did you choose to become a Finance Broker?

With my Mum, Dad and sister all being in finance, I have essentially grown up in the industry. After learning the ins and outs of how the administration side of the business worked, I became more interested in how to help customers directly as a broker.

Did you always know that you wanted to be a Finance Broker?

No, I actually worked in a fair few different industries prior to becoming a broker. By working in these different roles since leaving school, I felt it has enabled me to become a better broker. Some of my roles have been a painter, lawn mower, snow shovelling overseas, playground and softfall installer working across Australia, and electronics factory worker.

Why should someone choose you rather than going to a bank?

I like to think I can simplify the process and make something which may seem complex at first easy to understand. Unlike a bank, I am on my phone before and after business hours to assist customers with any queries.

What is your favourite thing about being a Finance Broker?

That’s a tough question. I love being able to help customers secure finance when purchasing a new home, in particular first home buyers, as there is a lot of excitement, but I also enjoy helping a customer save money refinancing their home loan and building wealth sooner rather than later!

What support do you offer your clients?

I am here to help customers from the start right through to the end of the finance journey with any queries. Whether it be reviewing lender options or assisting customers with any queries pre and post settlement.

What types of loans or clients do you work with the most? Have you won any awards for your services?

I primarily assist customers with residential finance, but I have also assisted many customers with asset finance and commercial finance.

Do you charge a fee for your services?

In almost all scenarios you are not required to pay a fee for our services. Instead, we’re paid a commission by the lender you choose through. Learn more here or get in touch if you have any questions.

Important question that everyone will want to know the answer to - if you’re going for dinner/breakfast/coffee somewhere in Newcastle, where are you going?

One of my favourite places to enjoy a coffee or a drink is at Lexies on the Beach at Stockton. Great views of Stockton Beach heading all the way north to Birubi Beach in Australia and within a short drive from my house. If I was after a cocktail, Earp Distilling Co has a great list of drinks available, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, and in a very nice modern industrial setting. For a meal, I am a big fan of Stockton Clubs 3 Sicilians Wood fired Pizzas, they can be quite difficult to share with others.

Have you always lived in Newcastle?

I have only recently moved to Newcastle as of September 2022, having previously lived in Brisbane for 5 years and Sydney previously. We have family around us in Stockton and Newcastle itself and all over the Hunter region.

What’s your favourite thing about living in Newcastle?

My wife and I love having so many beaches at our doorstep. We always dreamed of living by the beach, so we feel very lucky to have a beautiful beach such as Stockton Beach near our home. After living in Sydney and Brisbane, we have found Newcastle in general to be a lot more relaxed and we have found the people are very friendly.

If someone was visiting Newcastle, what are the top 3 things you recommend they do?

1. If you are feeling adventurous (and if you have a 4WD) enter Stockton Beach via Fern Bay access trail and drive north to Birubi Beach.
2. Visit Earp Distillery for a cocktail and meal.
3. Take a walk along the coastline of Newcastle via the Newcastle Memorial Walk, a beautiful tribute to the people who have served our country with spectacular views. 

When you’re not working, what do you spend your time doing?

I love to spend time walking my Dog Ruby with my wife every morning and afternoon, always a great way to start and finish a day. Playing golf (Badly) and cooking food (Badly)

When you’re not working, where will people find you?

If I am not out walking with my dog, I can usually be found at home tinkering in the garden or landscaping. I have also been sighed looking for balls I may have hit into the trees at Pacific Dunes Golf Club.
