A Q&A with Kevin Chaissan
Tell us about your journey in the Finance Industry
I've been fortunate to gain experience over the years working in a variety of roles across top banks and institutions in the lending world. From gaining a Bachelor's Degree in Economics, I've further upskilled in my roles working at Westpac, ING, Macquarie and mortgage managers specifically in the residential and commercial lending area. These experiences have helped shape my understanding of financial markets, real estate, credit assessment and working successfully with clients from all sorts of varying backgrounds to provide high levels of service to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Now at Loan Market, I love having the opportunity to help clients with all of their various lending needs across our large lender panel. Being able to work with 40+ banks and providers means that we can cater to all sorts of situations and work to find a solution that best fits the client.
What type of loans or clients do you work with most?
Being based in the Northern Rivers NSW, covering suburbs from Bogangar, Cabarita Beach to Kingscliff and all surrounds, it doesn’t limit clients that I look after around the country and abroad. This means that we have a huge range of clients with diverse lending needs. As such, my database is split between first home buyers, sophisticated investors, upsizers, and everything in between!
The primary focus is on residential lending, but I also regularly assist with commercial loans, asset and equipment lending, SMSF loans, and development finance.
Why do your current clients choose you rather than going to a bank?
Very simply put, it's all about choice these days. We're seeing over 70% of people now using mortgage brokers because everyone has their own unique situation and lending needs, and having a large panel of lenders available means that we can find a solution that is tailored to each individual and their specific requirements.
Long gone are the days when someone can walk into a local bank branch and have the ideal loan presented, as they may be presented with only 1 or 2 options, whereas having a mortgage broker with a large lender panel available means there are hundreds of other options available to consider, so you can be sure you're getting the right loan at the right price.
When you’re not working, what do you spend your time doing?
With a young family at home, my days are full of kids activities, bike rides and beach outings. We love exploring the Tweed area, hitting all the great beach and creek spots with friends and getting out in the water. Sneaking in the occasional round of golf is also up there, when I can find the time!
