Servicing first home buyers, upsizers and families from Highett, Hampton East, Moorabbin and surrounding suburbs

Bringing over 15 years of extensive finance expertise in mortgage broking and banking, Lucy embarked on her career journey at NAB as a business banker. After becoming frustrated with feeling like ‘no’ was the only answer you could give clients at the bank, Lucy transitioned to the mortgage broking industry. Focussing on predominantly first home buyers, upsizers and young families looking to find their dream home and provide security for their family in the Bayside area, Lucy’s favourite part of her job is educating her clients to help them secure a more financially sound future. Lucy's secret sauce in excelling at her job? It's her genuine honesty, unwavering trustworthiness, kind-hearted nature, and 'let's make it happen' attitude. Outside of work, Lucy finds immense joy in the company of her cherished family—partner Alex, daughter Stevie, and fur baby Charlie. She also loves a good sunset, often accompanied by Coldplay!

Q and A with Lucy;

What was your past experience before joining the team? How many years experience do you have in the finance industry as a mortgage broker?

15 years finance experience including both administration for a mortgage broker and in business banking at NAB.

Why did you choose to become a Mortgage Broker?

I got sick of saying no to clients while working at the bank when I knew that there was another way, I decided to leave the bank and become a finance broker so that I could assist people for their unique situation, not just situations that worked for the banks

Did you always know that you wanted to be a mortgage broker?

No! I studied psychology at uni and I hated it! Took a year off and fell into an admin role at a mortgage broking firm and fell in love with it! After travelling overseas for a year, I came back and settled into another role in admin at a broking firm which then led to a job in business banking and have never looked back!

Why should someone choose you rather than going to a bank?

The level of care I take to make sure you understand your financial positions and what borrowing x amount will mean for you, both with borrowing capacity and funds needed to put towards a purchase. We also review your loans 6 monthly to keep the banks accountable to make sure you’re on the right deal!

What is your favourite thing about being a mortgage broker?

Seeing people’s dreams come true is the obvious answer, but I actually love when the light goes on and a client who thinks they are ‘bad at finance’ starts to understand their financial position and what they can achieve.

What support do you offer your clients?

I am the sounding board! Whatever questions they have throughout the process, I’m their person!

What types of loans or clients do you work with the most?

First home buyers, but also mainly upsizers. I have a lot of clients who I helped to refinance or purchase their first home and now they are ready to upsize as they are family planning or had their first child and need something they can grow into and are looking to try and get into their forever home.

Do you charge a fee for your services?

In almost all scenarios you are not required to pay a fee for our services. Instead, we’re paid a commission by the lender you choose through. Learn more here or get in touch if you have any questions.

Important question that everyone will want to know the answer to - if you’re going for dinner/breakfast/coffee somewhere in Highett, where are you going?

It depends if it’s a date night or with my daughter! If it’s date night - Abbioco (I dream about their pasta). If we’re going as a family the go-to is Railway Wine Bar for the pizza!

Have you always lived in Highett?

Highett - no, I actually grew up in Glen Waverley and moved to Bayside in 2020 with my brother, before I met my partner and we bought our home.

What’s your favourite thing about living in Highett?

The proximity to the beach and the local food options are second-to-none.

When you’re not working, what do you spend your time doing?

When I’m not working, I’m spending time with my partner and our daughter, Stevie, usually trying to figure out how we can tire her out to ensure we get some sort of sleep overnight! Mostly, that’s hanging out at Sandy dog beach with our big boy, our labrador Charlie.
