A Q&A with Jesse Crofts

What was your past experience before joining the team? How many years experience do you have in the finance industry as a mortgage broker?

I began working in the banking industry in 2016 helping clients with personal and home loans. I then made the decision to move to mortgage brokering in 2020 and started my own business helping clients with home, personal, business, asset and motor lending solutions.

Why did you choose to become a finance broker?

I have always loved the world of finance and helping people is a huge win. I still get tingles when I call a client to let them know their loan is approved and they are on the way to that new home, car, business or whatever!

Did you always know that you wanted to be a finance broker?

I always knew I wanted to work in finance; in my free time I am heavily involved in macro economics and trading - just love the way the whole world is connected over one medium and the correlation between different markets on the world stage. Finance and lending is the more personable sector where you can see a real person benefit from the transaction.

Why should someone choose you rather than going to a bank?

I think of it like this… When you visit a bank, it’s like looking through a keyhole - there is a very limited view of what is available. Visiting a broker is like opening the door and getting the whole thing!

What is your favourite thing about being a finance broker?

It can be very challenging and very rewarding. To be successful you need to be very disciplined and handle many aspects of the role simultaneously. It keeps me focused. The best thing, is at the end of the process there is a very happy client and if looked after well, will be a friend for life.

What support do you offer your clients?

Quick and concise information with a professional recommendation on how to proceed to the next step.

This is paramount as most client’s are on a ‘clock’ with whatever it is they are needing to achieve with their finance.

Aside from this, I have built a very robust team over the years including conveyancers, financial advisers, accountants and real estate contacts who can add even more value to my client’s experience; its a 'one stop shop'

Do you charge a fee for your services?

In almost all scenarios you are not required to pay a fee for our services. Instead, we’re remunerated by the lender you choose to finance through. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Now onto an important question - if you're going somewhere local for food, where are you going?

Take a short trip down to Teneriffe and check out Beccofino. Amazing.

Have you always lived in Brisbane?

I was born on the Gold Coast but moved to Brisbane at an early age and absolutely love living here. I do also love a sneaky trip over to NZ whenever I can though!

What’s your favourite thing about living in Brisbane?

I love that Brisbane is bookended by the Sunshine and Gold Coast meaning a quick option to the beach in either direction.
We have a beautiful river city and tranquil mountains surrounding us - perfect for a lazy Sunday drive.

If someone was to visit New Farm what are the top 3 things you recommend they do?

If you’re stopping by the New Farm office, always worth a stroll around New Farm Park at dusk - it's such a beautiful place to chill. If your stay is a little longer, check out Southbank, Maleny/Montville and go for a coast run (Gold or Sunshine, either is a win!)

When you’re not working, what do you spend your time doing?

2 young kids keep us plenty busy! I also enjoy playing ice hockey when I can, trading the markets or going for a motorbike ride up the mountains. My son is now getting old enough to challenge me on the PS5 and I can now blame him for our every-growing Lego city…it's in 'his' room, but I think my wife knows who it really belongs to! As for my 2 year old daughter….she will no-doubt outsmart me in the next year or so; I'm in trouble with that one!
