What was your past experience before joining the team? How many years experience do you have in the finance industry as a mortgage broker?

Previously, I worked as a bookkeeper running my own business while my children were at primary school—around 20 years ago. I then joined Rams Home Loans and have been in the finance industry for 11 years, gaining extensive experience in residential and personal lending.

Sue, what is your role in the business?

I am a Home Loan Manager. Being a broker allows me to assist customers with a wide range of options, including personal loans, commercial loans, and home loans. Previously at Rams Home Loans, I was limited to certain products, but now I can provide a comprehensive suite of lending solutions.

Why did you choose to become a Home Loan Manager?

I’ve always enjoyed helping people. When I was 18, I originally wanted to join the Police Force but didn’t make the cut. Becoming a broker allows me to talk to people all day and make a real difference in their financial lives.

Why should someone choose you rather than going to a bank?

I take the time to listen, understand each client’s situation, and make them feel comfortable. I ensure my clients fully understand the process and obligations they’re signing up for—especially first home buyers.

What is your favourite thing about being a Home Loan Manager?

Meeting new people and helping clients who may be facing financial stress is incredibly rewarding. I take pride in saving my customers money by getting them better rates, rather than letting the banks keep it.

Do you charge a fee for your services?

Have you always lived in this area?

No. I’m originally from the Macedon Ranges (Victoria) and have been living in Port Macquarie for just under a year.

What’s your favourite thing about living here?

The weather, the beach, and the inland countryside—there are so many things to love!

If you’re going for breakfast, lunch, or coffee locally, where do you go?

I love exploring local cafés for a coffee or brunch while taking in the beautiful coastal scenery.

If someone was visiting the area, what are the top 3 things you recommend they do?

1. Whale watching—it’s an unforgettable experience.
2. Take a beach walk or swim along the coast.
3. Go on a country drive to Ellenborough Falls to see the stunning scenery.

When you’re not working, what do you spend your time doing?

I enjoy beach walks, reading, cooking, going on country drives, or simply relaxing and watching a movie or series.

Exploring the outdoors around Port Macquarie, enjoying the beaches, or taking day trips to scenic locations nearby.
